    FAQ

    1. Q: How much does it cost?
      • A: This application is free. Even after beta I plan to keep it available for free. If you would like to make a donation please see the info above.
    2. Q:Will source for this app be provided?
      • A: No. But you can still get the source for V1 from the Yahoo groups site.
    3. Q: How does this App Work?
      • A: DVD-WMV is a front end to DVD Decryptor, DGindex, AC3 delay Corrector, Avisynth and Windows Media Encoder 9
    4. Q: Can I put Subtitles in my movie?
      • A: Yes. You can specify SSA file that holds the text and desplay time information. SSA files can be generated using SubRip.
    5. Q: How do I get Support
      • A: If you are logged in you will see a support Email address below
    6. Q: It just says Expired
      • A: I have added an expiration date on each build until my final version is done. Please download a new version of you are getting the expired message.
    7. Q: WMA Pro 5.1 over SPDIF
      • A: Most sound cards do WMA passthrough. If this is the case your SPDIF receiver will need to support the WMA pro codec. Otherwise your Sound Card will need to convert to AC3 or another format supported by your receiver.
    8. Q: How does the batch processing work?
      • A: I enumerate all the vobs in the Batch process dir then pass each through the Encoding loop. The ouput filename will be the same as the name of the VOB.

    Info Help:

The First Page that you should start at is the Settings tab. This is where you will need to set the location of various items

            Settings Tab

    • Working Folder – This is where the application will store temp files and the extract VOBs
    • Output Folder – This is the location where you want the end wmv file to be saved to
    • Default Profile – This application uses WME files to store the default codec information along with other settings. This file should be the wme file that holds the codec settings you wish to use (files can be generated using Windows Media Encoder)
    • Second Profile – This application supports encoding the same movie twice with two different WME profiles. For example a 5.1 channel version and a 2 channel version (Media Center extenders do not support 5.1 as of yet).
    • Run Minimized – Determines if the DVD-WMV Application should be kept minimized during the DVD->WMV process.
    • Save VOB – Determines if the extracted VOB should be saved or deleted when the encoding process is complete
    • Delete Temp Files – Determines if all the temp files created during the encoding process should be deleted when the encoding process is complete
    • Lookup DVD info on Load – This application can automatically load the DVD volume name and attempt to lookup the movie data when the application loads
    • Use IMDB for lookup – This application has to way of looking up Movie Info. On-line which does screen scraping of IMDB and Off-Line which uses downloaded IMDB txt files (slow). If this is checked the app will attempt to use the On-line version
    • Encode with two Profiles – This specifies if both encoder profiles should be used when encoding. This will generate 2 versions of the same movie
    • DVD Drive – The drive letter that holds the DVD that you wish to convert
    • Backup Priority – Sets the amount of CPU cycles the application will have access to. If you intend to use your machine while it is encoding this should be set to low

            Main Tab (offline)

    • Various fields that will be written to the WMV as attributes
    • Preview options – If you want to only encode a specific amount of the movie so you can verify codec/size settings
    • Auto Cropping – If there are black bars in the movie (ie Widescreen bars) this will autocrop these off
    • This dialog shows the Cover art as gathered from Online IMDB

            Select Correct movie

    • If more then one movie is found to be similar this dialog will show to allow you to select the move that you wish to lookup the info for.

            Codec Settings

    • The First and Second Encode tabs allow you to modify the Codec settings that will be used for the given encode pass.
    • On the First Encode tab there are also AC3 audio delay and DVD audio track selection options
    • AC3 Audio delay -- allows you to specify the number ms of delay that you wish to have added to the beginning of the audio track (this is the number you modify if the audio is not in sync with the video)
    • DVD Audio Track – This is the Audio track that should be extracted from the VOB.
